One such inspiring story is that of Mahim Sheikh, a determined young woman whose dream of becoming a teacher was made possible through educational support from HFRI.

A Family's Struggle

Mahim always believed that education would be her path to independence, dignity, and a brighter future. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, her family faced an unexpected crisis.

Her father, Mr. Mushtaq Sheikh, who worked in a private company in Anand, suffered a severe brain stroke that left him bedridden for nearly two years. Although he eventually recovered, he lost his employment and now earns only a modest income by providing small banking and postal services.

Meanwhile, Mahim's mother took on the responsibility of supporting the family by working as a tailor while managing household expenses and repaying debts incurred during the family's most difficult period.

With limited income, monthly house rent, outstanding financial obligations, and Mahim's younger brother pursuing higher secondary education, continuing Mahim's college education became nearly impossible.

HFRI Steps Forward

Recognizing her determination and academic potential, Heart Foundation & Research Institute extended financial assistance in 2025 by sponsoring Mahim's complete Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) tuition fees and hostel expenses.

This support enabled her to continue her education without interruption and remain focused on achieving her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.

For Mahim, the scholarship represented far more than financial assistance—it restored confidence, provided stability, and reaffirmed that her aspirations were worth pursuing.

Every examination she successfully completes brings her one step closer to becoming an educator who will shape the lives of future generations.
